all the leaves, they are red and purple
and the stems, they are green and gray
how could anyone just desert her
when they promised that they would stay?

so she sways in the waning sunlight
waits and watched the diamonds rise
yearns for lovers to see the starshine
sparkling back from her dark green eyes

she says "dance, dance dance
and when you really feel it, start to wave your hands
like a flower in the wind.
you should dance, dance, dance."

though she cries in the misty morning,
still, she breathes in the golden air,
tilts her head to see buzzards soaring,
laughs as petals fall in her hair.

and the mantra she keeps reciting
holds her close when she's all alone.
in its joy, she is still delighting
and the dance, it goes on and on.
