Lightening

from Full Of Gentle by Katie Dill

/

about

you and me watchin' the stars
when thunder rolled through my backyard,
so we grabbed our things, got in the car,
and we drove for hours, drove so far,

we chased the storm out of the town,
yeah, we chased that thunder all around,
and when the lightning hit the ground,
it was at our feet and it struck us down.

well i'll always remember you as the guy
who never, never asked me "why?"
when i said "hey, let's stay outside!"
on rainy days or windy nights,

and i'll always remember the words you said
in the moment we were both struck dead,
i'll always remember the words you said
as we danced, as we danced...

you said:
"Lady, with the lightning in your hair,
embrace me while your arms are glowing there,
and face me with your bright, electric stare,
in case we never make it out of here!"

well Time is relative, don't you know?
when Life goes fast, It goes slow,
and when the lightning kissed our toes,
the moment stretched, the seconds froze,

and in the middle of the light,
we didn't cry, no we didn't fight,
you just grabbed my hand and said "Goodnight"
and we danced, yeah, we danced...

you said:
"Lady, with the lightning in your hair,
embrace me while your arms are glowing there,
and face me with your bright, electric stare,
in case we never make it out of here...

...never make it out of here..."

we found love
in a bolt of,
a bolt of
lightning.
